You’ve trained your staff in the art of upselling. You’ve ensured that your telephones are being answered correctly. My goodness, you’ve done so many things in your salon that you’ve probably got all your bases covered, right?

WRONG! DEAD WRONG! Let me tell you why…

Ask yourself this: When prospective clients are looking for a salon in their area, how do they find one? Where do they look?
Common answers to this question are:

  • The Yellow Pages
  • Community Newspapers
  • Hair & Beauty Magazines

While it’s true that these are all very common methods of finding local businesses across all industries, there is one place where more and more potential customers are searching for places to spend their money: The Internet. The amount of people who now use online searches to find what they want has outnumbered traditional methods considerably, and growth of online search methods is showing no signs of ever slowing down. In fact, it’s safe to say that for prospective clients under the age of 40 today…

IF THEY CAN’T FIND YOU ONLINE, YOU DON’T EXIST!

It sounds like an exaggeration. I know it does. Some people will probably still try and tell you that an online presence is little more than window dressing. Sheer frivolity. Just something you have to do in order to appear “trendy” or “modern”.
These people are either stupid, ignorant, living in a bubble or working for The Yellow Pages!
Make no mistake… if you either don’t have a website at all or have a website which isn’t kept up to date regularly or optimized to be found in searches…

YOU ARE MISSING OUT ON SALES… BIG TIME!

If you don’t have a website at all, then you’re going to fall into one of two categories. You’re either going to dig your heels in and flatly refuse to ever get one – that’s your choice… not a wise one, but yours all the same. Or you’ve been waiting for the “right time” to get one, putting it off, hoping that one day, someone would come along with a solution for you. Something simple. Something effective. Someone who could help you get one without trying to bamboozle you with jargon and nonsense, leaving you more confused and apprehensive than you already were.

I can’t help you if you’re from the first category. I’m not going to twist your arm, and I’m not going to try and drag you towards something that you’re just plain not interested in. I don’t work like that. Never have and never will. However, if you are one of those people who claim to not want a website, if you’ve read this far, perhaps you need to question exactly how disinterested you really are!

If you already have a website for your salon, there are a couple of basic questions you should know the answers to:

  • Does your website generate sales for your business? If so, how many? If not, why not?
  • Does your website place well in searches? Try it: type “hair (or beauty) salon (your area)” into Google.
  • Does your website allow you to make instant updates or changes yourself?
  • Does your website allow visitors to join or subscribe to a mailing list or members section?
  • Does your website allow visitors to contact you via email without leaving your site?

If you answered NO to any of the above questions,
your website is losing you money and business.

But don’t panic! The beauty of websites is that problems can be fixed NOW!
